How To Say Emotions in Egyptian Arabic

Knowing how to say emotions in Egyptian Arabic is important. It helps you to describe exactly how you are feeling, and can avoid those awkward situations where you say that “I’m happy your cat died” instead of “I’m sad.”

Nobody wants that.

Still, those little “emotion words” are sometimes the last thing that you learn, and even when you do, can be difficult to remember.

That’s what we’re helping you with today. A bunch of emotions, and how to actually use them.

Today, Cleo Lingo will be explaining….how to say emotions in Egyptian Arabic.

Vocabulary For Emotions in Egyptian Arabic

Today’s vocabulary section will be a little bit different. It will be longer, and we will also break it into two sections: positive emotions and negative emotions. After that, we will do the same with longer example phrases.

One important thing to note: Arabic is a gendered language. These emotion words are all the “masculine form” before you add the “tamrabootuh” to make it feminine. This is basically just adding the “uh” sound after what you see here.

The gender of nouns, part one and the gender of nouns, part two might help here.

We promise we aren’t sexist; it’s just quicker!

Cultural Insight

Egyptians (just gonna say it) are a weird combination of two things. At least from a foreigner’s perspective.

First, with how expressive they are (they speak with their hands a lot), they often seem….not so happy.

They also talk pretty loud.

That doesn’t really help with the image of “angry Egyptian.”

But you will hardly ever find HAPPIER people. Seriously….Egyptians laugh at everything.

Just something to keep in mind when you are expressing your emotions in Egyptian Arabic.

Good luck with those emotions. 🙂

Happy learning,

Cleo Lingo
